Our Story
Marinus H Coetsee the founder of the MATOMO GROUP and the IKWEZI GROUP HOLDING COMPANY established The UNIVERSAL Project Management Company (PTY) Limited on 15 January 1999 as part of these successful Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) Groups.
Marinus on 31 July 2011 returned to South Africa after residing in and spending an extensive period operating businesses in East and Central Africa.
On 1 August 2011 Marinus Coetsee and Moses Atemba re-established The UNIVERSAL Project Management Company (PTY) Limited as well as the following associate companies:-
• UNIVERSAL City of David Project Management Company a Limited Liability Partnership Company (LLPC/SPRL) in the Democratic Republic of Congo;
• UNIVERSAL Triopt in Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, and Malawi;

Marinus with his seasoned experience with regards to the project, program and portfolio management of multi-billion US Dollar telecommunications, power and construction projects in more than five countries as well as successful and profitable business creation in more than five countries and Moses with his expert business skills and extensive experience with regards to telecommunications engineering and project management in telecommunications, network engineering, planning, drive testing and optimization in more than 5 countries combined their experiences to form the management team of The UNIVERSAL Project Management Company (PTY) Limited.

Our Approach
The UNIVERSAL Project Management Company particularly elected South Africa DRC and Kenya to be the centres from which to work from and to provide its services and products to all 58 countries within Africa.
The UNIVERSAL Project Management Company are constantly appraising new methodologies in Project, Program and Portfolio Management, Telecommunications, Power, etc. and have brought training concepts as well as staff on board, who are equally experienced and knowledgeable. This in preparation for UNIVERSAL to be ready for the most exiting challenges Africa will have to offer during the next few decades.
Our Progress
The UNIVERSAL Project Management Company (PTY) Limited was accordingly incorporated on 15 January 1999 in terms of the South African Companies Act under the Registration No. of 1999/014141/07.

On 1 August 2011 Marinus Coetsee and Moses Atemba re-established The UNIVERSAL Project Management Company (PTY) Limited in South Africa as well as a number of joint ventures and associate companies to form a true African based Group headed by Marinus H Coetsee as Managing Director and Moses K Atemba as Projects Director.
UNIVERSAL was established with exceedingly knowledgeable and talented people:- proficient in the turnkey and multi-discipline Project, Program and Portfolio Management of training, education and job creation; telecommunications civil and structural engineering and construction, network engineering drive testing, planning, dark spot and maxed-out traffic problem solving, implementation of solutions; power and; other projects.
The UNIVERSAL Project Management Company has uninterruptedly developed, with a part of its revenue now being produced from other African countries. As a consequence, companies have and/or are being established in the following countries: – South Africa; Kenya; Sudan; South Sudan; DRC, Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia.
The above businesses attend and support the UNIVERSAL Project Management Company’s clients in the above 9 and their neighbouring countries.

Our B-BBEE Status
The UNIVERSAL Project Management Company (PTY) Limited in South Africa is presently an Exempted BEE Micro-Enterprise having an automatic B-BBEE Contribution Level of four and procurement recognition of 100 % as per the South African Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Act (53/2003) and Codes of Good Practice on Black Economic Empowerment as gazetted on 9 February 2007.
The UNIVERSAL Project Management Company founders have however taken the decision and concluded that UNIVERSAL in South Africa will always remain a B-BBEE Company of between Level 1 and Level 4. To this end a minimum of 50 % shareholding within The UNIVERSAL Project Management Company (PTY) Limited has been set aside for South African BEE PDI partners. UNIVERSAL is at present in the process of selling this 50 % shareholding to future partners.
